While music teachers persistently stress the importance of sight reading, most teachers prefer not to spend valuable lesson time on basic note recognition skills. Thus, NoteWorks helps music teachers concentrate on more interesting aspects of their art, such as technique and musicality.

Serious music students can take advantage of the game to learn clefs outside of their own instruments, as well as prepare for music theory exams. In addition, non-musicians could use NoteWorks as an interesting memory game, to help keep their minds sharp and quick.

NoteWorks was created for people who like to learn by playing and having fun. It was designed with the objective of neither being too easy nor too hard, and never boring. We hope youll find NoteWorks both useful and entertaining, and we would greatly appreciate it if you could share your thoughts and opinions about the game by rating it.

Pros and cons of NoteWorks for iPhone app for iPhone and iPad

NoteWorks for iPhone app good for

Excellent for piano and guitar instruments!!! Would love it if violin was added too!!!
Very useful app for anyone who would like to learn notation. Suits for any age

Some bad moments

I have NoteWorks downloaded on my iPad and have enjoyed recommending it to my piano students. I’m excited to now be able to recommend NoteWorks to my students who do not own an iPad but own an iPhone! The iPhone version is much like the iPad version, except the NoteWorks has added an improved way for players to select the range of notes on the staff they would like to practice during the game. The size of the staff is slightly smaller in the iPhone version than in the iPad version. This is somewhat of a disadvantage for young beginner students, but I imagine that most students will not have too much difficulty reading the notes with their young eyes.
I use NoteWorks in my piano studio. It is one of my top 5 favorite note reading apps to use. Not only can you customize what needs to be learned or reviewed, but it has the option to answer with solfege (do, re, mi), a keyboard, or letter names. The iPhone/iPod version is smaller but very convenient for those who do not have an iPad. I highly recommend this game.
The full version does not let you use the touchscreen keyboard, it wants you to hook up MIDI keyboard, which is no good when you want to be mobile. This app needs updating!
This is a nice little app that will help you learn to read sheet music and learn where the notes live on the piano and guitar. Good for both kids and adults. Good for practice anywhere when your instrument isnt handy.
If only you were able to practice with the treble and bass clef together
